ELENA RYAN

Elena Ryan is a Ukrainian born Australian artist currently based in Sanya.

Inspired by the South China Sea, water became a key element in her latest work. Elena’s art conveys an intuitive feeling of nature’s power and grandeur. In seascapes she uses a traditional multiple layers technique to depict water movement, yet doing it playfully with ‘loose’ and relaxed brushstrokes. Elena specializes in oil painting and her ability to render colour and light is remarkable. Although water is one of the most difficult subjects to paint, it is expressed in her work in many different ways.

Elena likes to merge nature and abstract. While focusing on the essence of nature, her artworks are modern and portray her fascination and enchantment with the world and human sensibility. Elena’s work is collected throughout the UK, China and Ukraine, Australia and Spain.
