Godefroy now mainly focuses on abstract painting. He has studied painting under MOMA’s “Abstract Painting” program and Arts & Culture Strategy with Penn University. In addition, he is certified in the UK in the management of Art on Superyachts.
Godefroy’s work concept is both constructing and de-structuring. His palette can range from monochromatic to extremely polychromatic, but always aims towards aesthetic balance, trying to convey emotional resonance and generate complex emotions. Some of his works show a strong Chinese influence and incorporate elements of Fengshui. His latest works tend to oppose natural fluidity to geometric rigidity.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
“Art is a silent language to communicate with people and society without a word, as well as an introspective, soothing personal experience. I love the process of being in a Zen state and exploring a fictional sphere. To me painting is a door to an infinite imaginary world with indeterminate shapes, colours, forms or rules. I have no interest in still life, scenery or material representations. Although I sometimes start with a precise concept, in many cases I just go with the flow, letting nature drive me through a new experience. My current works are a metaphor between past and future, between reality and illusion. I want my paintings to be subject to individual interpretation and to each viewer’s own feelings.”
